Cookies Policy
What we store on your device, why, and how to refuse it.
About this policy
This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies Wake AG uses on wakepay.ch and wakepay.app, and any connected interfaces, what they do, and how you control them. Read it together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data generally.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. Cookies let a site remember your actions and preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is used. We use the word "cookies" in this policy to cover related technologies too, including local and session storage, pixels and software development kits, which do similar things by different means.
The rules we apply
We are established in Switzerland, where Art. 45c lit. b of the Telecommunications Act allows cookies provided that users are told what is being processed, for what purpose, and that they may refuse. Switzerland therefore works on an opt-out basis.
Because our sites are available to visitors in the European Economic Area, we apply the stricter European standard to everyone: a cookie that is not strictly necessary would be set only after you had consented. At present we set none, so there is nothing to ask you.
Categories of cookies
Websites generally use cookies in the categories below. We use only the first: strictly necessary cookies.
| Category | What it does | Consent |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Makes the site work: page delivery, security, load balancing, and remembering the cookie choices you have already made. Cannot be switched off. | Not required |
| Functional | Remembers preferences such as language or interface settings so you do not have to set them again. | Required |
| Analytics | Tells us how the site is used in aggregate — pages visited, time on page, where visitors arrive from — so we can improve it. | Required |
We do not use advertising or profiling cookies. We do not serve advertising, we do not share data with advertising networks, and we do not build profiles of visitors for marketing purposes.
The cookies we set
We run two sites, and they behave differently. Below is what each one actually stores, as at the date of this policy.
wakepay.ch — our corporate website
This site sets no cookies of its own. It is a set of static pages. There is no analytics, no tag manager, no advertising or social media code, no embedded third-party content, and no use of local or session storage. Nothing about your visit is stored on your device or sent to anyone else. Because of that, there is no consent banner: there is nothing to consent to.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare, our content delivery network | Distinguishes automated traffic from people, so the site can be protected from abuse. Strictly necessary, and set only where that protection is engaged. It contains no information that identifies you and is not used for advertising or analytics. | 30 minutes |
wakepay.app — the platform
The platform is a service you sign in to, so it necessarily keeps track of your session. Everything it sets is strictly necessary: without it you could not stay signed in, and no consent is required for it. There is no analytics, advertising or profiling on the platform either.
| Purpose | What it does | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Session and authentication | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages and protects the session against being reused by someone else. | Until you sign out, or the session expires |
| Security | Protects sign-in and transaction pages against automated abuse and cross-site request forgery. | Session, or up to 30 minutes |
| __cf_bm | As above — set by Cloudflare, our content delivery network. | 30 minutes |
The exact names and lifetimes of the platform's session cookies are available on request from the address below.
Cookies set by others
Where a cookie is set by a third party on our behalf, that provider processes the data under a contract with us and may be located outside Switzerland. Transfers of that kind are covered by the safeguards described in our Privacy Policy under Transfers outside Switzerland. Each provider also has its own privacy policy, which we suggest you read if you want the detail of their processing.
How to control cookies
- On our site — there is nothing to turn off. We set no optional cookies, so there is no banner and no preference to manage.
- In your browser — every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, and most offer a setting to warn you before one is set. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the site working.
- If that changes — should we ever introduce a cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will ask you first, and you will be able to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal takes effect for the future; to have data already collected deleted, use the rights set out in the Privacy Policy.
Changes
We update this policy when the cookies we use change, when a provider changes, or when the law does. The version and date of the current policy are shown at the top of this page, and the current version is always published at wakepay.ch/cookies.
